I am excited to be the School Counselor at Deer Creek Elementary
School. This will be my third year at Deer Creek Elementary School.
It is my goal to guide students as they learn to build strong
healthy relationships within a positive, caring environment.
I have been married to my husband, Mike, for twenty-nine years
and we have three children. Michael is newly married to our
daughter-in-law, Jennifer. He currently is the manager for Johnny
Carino’s restaurant in Tulsa. Our daughter, Sarah, works at OU
Medical Center where she is a RN/BSN in the “Women’s Special Care”
unit. Joshua will be a sophomore this year at Deer Creek High School
where he serves as the Drum Major for the band program. I graduated
from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1980 with a degree in
Education. In 2002, I completed my Master’s degree in Early
Childhood Education and have since completed my Master’s in School
Guidance and Counseling.
The counseling program at Deer Creek Elementary School includes
regularly scheduled guidance classes within the classroom setting.
During our time together, I will be working with the children in the
areas of social and personal development, career education, and the
school-wide anti-bullying program is also implemented through the
classroom guidance lessons. Small groups are offered during the
school year to reinforce social skills, study skills, changing
family dynamics or other topics as they arise. Individual counseling
can be implemented at the request of a parent, if needed.
My other responsibilities at Deer Creek Elementary include New
Kids Club, Antler Ambassadors, Generation to Generation, and Student
Council. To find out more information about these programs, please
visit other areas of our website.
