Kari Sawatzky
Fifth Grade
[Visit Miss
Sawatzky's Website]I am
honored to be apart of the wonderful Deer Creek Elementary family.
This will be my second year as a fifth grade teacher at DCES. My
previous teaching experience includes teaching fifth grade for seven
years in the Bartlesville Public Schools. In 2005, I became a
National Board Certified Teacher. During my seven years of
experience, I have specialized in social studies, reading, writing,
and science. I continue to be a life-long learner. During the summer
of 2006, I was selected to attend the Visual Culture of Colonial
New England institute in Salem, Massachusetts. This experience
greatly impacted my instruction in United States history.
I am
a 1999 graduate of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, with a B.S. in
Elementary Education. During my years at OWU, I was a member of the
women’s basketball team. Even though my basketball days are over, I
have traded my basketball shoes for running shoes. In March, I
completed my eighth marathon. Running marathons give me an excuse to
visit various cities in the United States. I am hoping to qualify
someday for the Boston Marathon. When I am not running, I enjoy
traveling, reading, spending time with family, and volunteering for
the Make-a-Wish Foundation and my church.
I
look forward to meeting my new students and families this next year.
I anticipate a wonderful year in 2007-2008. |
