My
name is Jennifer Parsons, and this is my 6th year teaching at Deer
Creek Elementary. I completed my student teaching here as well, and
also spent a semester as a paraprofessional after graduating in
December 2005. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
severe-profound special education; and I am certified in the areas
of severe/profound, mild/moderate, and elementary education. Before
going back to college in 2000, I spent 6 years at a physical therapy
clinic; and before that I spent 10 years at home with my 3
daughters. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching old movies,
and playing with my new grandchildren. During the fall my favorite
pastime is College football. I especially love going to OSU games!
My oldest daughter
Erin is a newlywed, and she and her husband live in Norman. They are
expecting their first child, Drake Lee in January. My daughter Julie
lives in Piedmont with her 5 month old daughter, Kira. My youngest
daughter Torey also lives in Piedmont with her son, Jude, who just
turned 7 months old. This is a very exciting time with all the new
additions to our family!
I have been so blessed to begin my teaching career in
the Deer Creek district. I have worked with so many amazing teachers
and parents who are so caring and helpful. I enjoy watching my
students grow and develop a love of learning throughout the year.
One of the good things about teaching special education is that I
have the opportunity to spend several years with some of my
students. During that time it’s always amazing to watch how they
grow and mature over the years. It is my mission to help each child
discover a love of learning new things every day, and continue with
a life-long desire for knowledge. It is always exciting to begin a
new school year, and I look forward to the upcoming year and
partnering with you in your child’s education. |
