Welcome to the new school year at Deer Creek Elementary!  My name is Jennifer Newkirk, and I am thrilled to be the fifth grade science teacher this year. 

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University in elementary education.  I have taught for eight years prior to this in schools in Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and California in grades ranging from fourth through eighth grade.  I am so glad to have found a home here at Deer Creek Elementary.

I have been married to my husband, Thomas, for ten years.  We have two wonderful children.  Mikaela is six, and thrilled to be in first grade at Deer Creek Elementary with me.  We also have Isaiah, who is three years old.  We all love being in the outdoors and spending time together as a family.  When I am not teaching and have a few spare minutes, I love picking up a great book or knitting various projects. 

I am so looking forward to this year and getting to know all the fantastic fifth grade students and their amazing families.
