I find teaching to be very exciting and rewarding. I
have over a decade of experience in education. I have taught
Pre-School, Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th
grades. This past year I taught 3rd grade at
DCES.
My family lives in
Edmond. My husband, Michael, works as a manager for Kone Elevators
and Escalators in Oklahoma City. He grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma and
enjoys golfing and Sooner football. He was previously in the Army,
where we lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Germany, and Florida. We
bought a lovely home here and are pleased to “put down roots” in
this wonderful community.
We have two
daughters. Lauren is the oldest and she is excited about school.
She loves reading and games such as chess, 20 questions, and mancala.
She also enjoys soccer, art, music, watching movies, and playing
with our dog, Simone. Rachel is the youngest and is happy about
going to school with her mom and sister. She enjoys gymnastics,
Barbie dolls, Littlest Pet Shop, dress up, and crafts (the messier
the better!). Both girls are part of Girl Scouts and play a variety
of team sports, as well.
I grew up in
metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. I received my B.A. in education from
Newberry College (SC) and completed my Master’s Degree in early
childhood education at the University of South Carolina in Columbia,
SC. I taught 2nd grade for four years in Aiken, SC
before getting married.
In my spare time, I
enjoy reading, gardening, decorating, and board games. My family
has always been very active in our community and likes trips to the
park, library, pool, and other great places. We are members of
Quail Springs Baptist Church.
We feel very blessed
that our journey has brought us to the Deer Creek/Edmond area. The
future looks bright and we are glad that Deer Creek Elementary is
part of it. The staff and atmosphere found at DCES are truly
remarkable. As a teacher and parent, I am very pleased to be part
of such a quality school. |
