Hello! My name is Michelle McGee, and I am
very excited to continue with the Deer Creek Elementary School faculty as
music teacher.
After graduating from Baylor University in 1986, I taught elementary music
in South Bend, Indiana for one year followed by nine years in Arlington,
Texas. In 1991, I graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton
with a Master of Music Education degree.
From 1997-2001, I taught music major courses and voice instruction at
Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri and Southwest Missouri
State in Springfield, Missouri.
Since my move to Oklahoma in 2001, I have taught at the University of
Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Mid-Del Public Schools, and most recently, Yukon
Public Schools.
My hobbies include spending time with my three wonderful children, going to
movies, and taking vacations in Colorado. I also enjoy singing
professionally with the Canterbury Choral Society.
Curriculum:
Students at Deer Creek Elementary
experience a wide range of musical studies. Lessons include the study of
pitch, rhythm, dynamics, timbre, harmony, melody, form and tempo. These
concepts are experienced through singing, listening, movement and composing.
The students are also taught musical history and the lives of composers.
Every grade level performs a musical production during the year with
costuming , scenery and choregraphy.
The Deer Creek chorus is made of 4th
and 5th graders who rehearse twice a week. The chorus performs for
nursing homes, shopping malls, and schools.
