I began teaching after graduating from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Elementary Education. My previous teaching experience includes 5^th, 7^th, and 8^th grades in Deer Creek. I returned to The University of Central Oklahoma and obtained my Masters degree in Education Administration. Before becoming the Principal of Deer Creek Elementary, I served as the Assistant Principal at Deer Creek Middle School.

I feel fortunate that my career in education has been in Deer Creek. It has allowed me to work with outstanding teachers and students. I am committed to student success! My commitment is to maximize student-learning experiences and to move forward with the outstanding programs DCES has worked so hard to obtain.

I feel fortunate to be a part of the Deer Creek tradition. I am married to Kevin Kates who is in the demolition business. I have one daughter named Kaylee and she was born this past September.

I am thrilled to be the principal of Deer Creek Elementary School and I will always do what is in the best interest of our students!
