Hello, and
welcome to second grade at Deer Creek Elementary! It is going to be
a fantastic year! I am looking forward to the privilege of being
your child’s teacher. This is my first year at Deer Creek
Elementary, and I am delighted to be part of such an extraordinary
school.
I was born and
raised in California, and moved to Edmond/Deer Creek last summer
from the San Francisco area. My husband and I feel very fortunate to
be part of such a wonderful community. We really enjoy living here.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa,
and attended graduate school at the University of San Francisco.
While in CA I taught Pre-K and was a K-12 substitute teacher before
teaching fourth grade in Sonoma County. I spent last year as a
fourth grade teacher with the Putnam City School District. I am
thrilled to be working this year in my home district as a part of
the incredible DCES team.
I love
teaching, and have known since I was in elementary school that I
wanted to spend my career as an educator! I am a life-long learner,
and it is my desire that each of my students gain a passion for
knowledge and education as well.
My husband
Matt and I have been married for four years. He is the Director of
Learning and Development for CIT Group Inc. We love spending time
with our friends and family, enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities,
traveling, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and playing with
Brodie, our 8 month old English Setter. We are also very involved
with our church where Matt plays percussion and I work in the
children’s ministry. In my spare time I also love to read,
scrapbook, cook, and go out for coffee with friends.
I am looking
forward to meeting each of you and getting to know my second
graders! It is going to be a wonderful and rewarding year! J
