My expectations were met after a fun-filled and
meaningful first year at Deer Creek Elementary School. I am looking
forward to another exciting year of helping your children learn to
love books and the library.
Although I was new to Deer Creek in 2006, I am
not new to educating students. My career began as a high school
English teacher. I served in this capacity for five years at Putnam
City North High School and for two years at Harding Charter
Preparatory High School. At Harding, I also served as school
librarian.
I received a Master’s degree in Library and
Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma and was honored
for my dedication to children’s library services as the recipient of
the 2005 Mildred Laughlin Award and an OSLA scholarship.
I enjoy computers and technology and, of
course, reading. My husband Bill is an Oklahoma City Firefighter
and we have three children: Will, 7; Molly, 4; Tucker, 1. As a
family, we enjoy our small cattle farm and being outdoors together.
