Hello,
welcome to a wonderful year in kindergarten. This is my fourth year
at Deer Creek Elementary, and it is truly a joy to be part of such
an exceptional school. I know this will be an outstanding year for
both your children and me!
I
graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1998 with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. That same
fall I began teaching in the Edmond Public Schools, and I worked in
the district for nine years before moving to Deer Creek. I’ve
taught pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st grade during my
teaching career.
Teaching young children is such an amazing gift. There is nothing
like watching children grow, witnessing those “Ah-Hah!” moments, and
celebrating each child’s individual accomplishments throughout the
course of the year. I want my students to have a passion for
learning. I have implemented instructional strategies that will
focus on educating the “whole child” – including cognitive
development, social skills, and character development. My mission
is to provide children a safe and secure environment where the
foundation for life-long learning begins and where children feel
nurtured, respected, and valued as they build the skills to become
independent learners.
My
husband Keith works in IT for OGE Energy Corp. We are blessed with
two incredible children, Melissa and Cameron. Melissa is beginning
college this year at Southern Nazarene University. She is majoring
in physics and plans to go into Radiology. Our son Cameron will be
in 8th grade this year at Deer Creek Middle School. Our
last family member is a precious little Boston terrier named
Princess.
My free
time is spent hanging out with our large family and close friends.
We attend church at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. I also
enjoy reading, shopping, and traveling with my family.
I am so
excited that Deer Creek Elementary won the distinction of becoming
an “A+ School” this year. We will also continue be use our Eight
Expectations, life principles, and quotes that are part of being a
“Great Expectations School”. I could not ask to be part of a more
amazing school family – we are definitely blessed to have such
wonderful leadership, caring faculty, and exceptional parents! I am
looking forward to an amazing year with all of our Deer Creek
students and families!
