Greetings,
My name is Ann Rockhold. After teaching
Literature to seventh graders for twelve years here at Deer Creek,
I decided I needed a new challenge. Last year I began teaching
third grade, and I love it!! I’ve only taught in the Deer Creek
school district, and I can’t imagine teaching anywhere else!
I have been married for thirty-two years to
Roger Rockhold. We have two adult children: Stacy Reed and Jared
Rockhold. Stacy is a nurse and lives in Texas with her husband,
Lydon, a Dallas fireman and paramedic. Jared owns a fence and
mowing business called Prime Lawn Care, LLC. He lives in Edmond.
I graduated from Central State University. I,
also, attended Oklahoma Christian College where I met Roger. I am a
native of Kentucky and my husband of West Virginia. Roger graduated
and stayed in Oklahoma because I was still in school. We married in
1979 and made our home in the Oklahoma City area.
I am honored to say that I earned
my National Board of Certified Teachers certificate in 2004.
Although
my degree is in elementary education, I also hold certificates in
Early Childhood, Middle School Langauage Arts, and Seconday Language
Arts.
Children are a precious gift to us, and they
should be treated as such. After all, they are our future. One of
my favorite quotes is from Rich Lavoie who says, “Fair is not equal,
it is what each child needs.” This is a motto that I strive to live
by, too. We are all different and learn in different ways so it only
makes sense that “fair is not equal… .”
I am excited to be at DCES, and I anticipate a
FABULOUS year with your children.
Ann Rockhold
