Sara Larsen
Special Education |

Greetings! My name is Sara Larsen. I am from
Chattanooga, Tennessee. I attended the
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where I
majored in Special Education. I graduated in
2000, got married and moved to Virginia because
of my husband's job. For two years, I taught
the severe/profoundly handicapped students of
Waynesboro, Virginia. I had my first child
(Addison) in Virginia and got homesick, so my
husband transferred back to Chattanooga. After
taking a year off with Addison, I went back to
work at Loftis Middle School teaching inclusion
classes and Math/Science Alternate
Achievement classes. I taught at Loftis for 5
years, during which I had my second daughter,
Jillian, who is now 3 years old. I hated to say
good-bye to Loftis' students and faculty, but my
husband got a job with the government and with
that...a transfer. We welcomed the new
adventure; so, here we are in Edmond, Oklahoma!
We've been here since March ('09) and slowly but
surely I am learning my way around, still using
my GPS at times. I have been very impressed
with the friendliness and welcoming nature of
the people of Edmond. We have been truly
blessed to have moved here and to have already
made wonderful friends. I look forward to
meeting more people and working at Deer Creek
Elementary.
In my spare time...ha ha... I enjoy spending
time with my family, reading, and watching
movies (all kinds...except horror). I have a
southern accent, I love Tennessee Volunteer
football, I love to smile, and my voice has a
tendency to carry long distances which is useful
when my girls leave the door open and my yellow
lab runs out the door to explore the
neighborhood!
I have heard so many wonderful things about Deer
Creek Schools! I can't wait to be a part of the
number one school district in Oklahoma!
