My name is Kali Clark and I am so grateful to be teaching first grade at Deer Creek Elementary School.  I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition to my college training, I have educational training in programs such as Literacy First, Great Expectations, and Schools Attuned. This will be my third year to teach in the Deer Creek School District.

 

Children are truly my passion and I am so thankful to be working in such an amazing school, alongside an incredible group of teachers and staff, as well as wonderful and supportive Deer Creek families!  I believe that children learn best when they can relate their learning experiences to their life and when they feel comfortable and confident taking risks as learners.  I feel it is important to build a classroom community in which all students are engaged and feel safe working together to solve problems and learn from one another.  

 

I have a wonderful family that includes a younger sister, Tara, who will be a senior at the University of Oklahoma.  Yes, we have a house divided!  I just recently got married on May 29, 2009.  My husband, Josh, works as a petroleum landman in the oil and natural gas business.  We have three precious dogs, Cayenne, Pepper, and the most recent addition to our family, Huey.  Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, cooking, watching movies and traveling.
