Working with children ~ what an exciting adventure! Kids are
vibrant, energetic, and filled with curiosity. They keep me smiling
and young at heart!! Watching kids of all ages develop into lifelong
learners is what I enjoy most about my career.
My teaching career started over 16 years ago, after I spent several
years working outside education. As soon as I stepped foot in my
first classroom, it was confirmed what my family and friends had
been telling me for years...I was meant to teach! After teaching
preschool and many years of first grade, I was hungry to learn more
about how I could be an even stronger teacher for my students and
their parents. I received my Master’s degree in Reading and became
a certified Reading Specialist. I am trained in the Love and
Logic Positive Discipline for teachers and parents, Schools
Attuned assessment, am a certified Cognitive Retraining therapist
and am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher as well. Teaching is a
gift I treasure. I find it a very rewarding job that allows me to be
a part of creating strong readers, confident students, and lifelong
learners.
My husband and I met at KU over 24 years ago and are blessed with 2
amazing children! We have a son at OSU and a daughter at DC High
School. We enjoy gardening, tackling home improvement projects,
traveling, playing games, being active at church and attending
sporting events at DC, OSU, and KU.
I am truly blessed to share my days with the Deer Creek community.
Thank you for all you do to support not only your child, but also
the staff at Deer Creek Elementary. I am here to help your child
through the learning process. I am also here to guide you through
the year. This website will be very helpful and informative to you.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments.
The bridge between home and school is a child’s road to success!
Happy Learning,
