Special Programs
Accelerated Reader - More
The Accelerated Reader program is a motivational
computerized program in which students read a book and take
a computer generated test upon completion. Upon passing the
test, students earn points that they use toward an award.
Points needed for prizes vary by grade level.
Antler Ambassadors - More
Antler Ambassadors is a volunteer program for fourth and
fifth grade students. This program offers the students who
apply a valuable experience in a leadership position.
Computer Lab
Deer Creek Elementary has a state of the art technology lab.
Students attend computer lab three times a week. Students of
all grades (K-5) work on keyboarding and academic skills.
Math Masters
This year DCES students will be challenged to reach for the
stars, (math stars that is). Our Math Masters Superstar
bulletin board is designed to help encourage students to do
well on their Math Mad Minutes. When a student reaches or
masters a specific mad-minute level a stamp will be placed
on their star to indicate their progress. We at DCES feel
this is a great way to showcase the math talents of all the
students.
Media Center - Visit the Media
Center
Students may come to the media center anytime it's open,
alone or in groups of two or three, as long as they have
permission from their classroom teacher. Every student will
attend library with his class once a week for 50 minutes
except for Kindergarten and 1st graders. Their library
classes are 25 minutes long. Principal's Reading
Challenge
The theme for the Principal's Reading Challenge this year is
"Oklahoma Celebration of Reading". Each student at Deer Creek Elementary
is challenged to help our school reach a goal of reading
3,000 books in the month of November.
Terrific Kids - More
Teachers nominate one student per classroom each week that
are an exceptional representative of the current Terrific
Kid character word. The nominated students are acknowledged
during an Antler Alert.
