Information
Literacy Instruction
All students have
designated library times for information literacy
instruction and book circulation. Library lessons are
designed to help students become familiar with libraries
in general by instruction in the Dewey Decimal System,
online catalogs, credibility and an understanding of the
safe use of the Internet as a resource, instruction in
technology, reader’s guidance, and the development of
lifelong reading.
Library Programs
Student programs for the
school year will include: two school-wide book fairs,
the birthday book club, Parents as Guest Readers event,
the Sequoyah breakfast, guest speakers, Read Across
America day, and many other events that promote a love
of reading and an appreciation for lifelong learning.
Parent Volunteers
If you would like to
help in our school library, please contact the school
librarian. We will need volunteers to
come regularly to help with day to day operations in the
library as well as volunteers who will coordinate our
book fairs. Thank you for your participation and
support.
