Antler Ambassadors
Deer
Creek Elementary School offers a program to all fifth grade
students interested in volunteering service to their
school. It is called Antler Ambassadors. Interested
students must fill out an application and go through
training before becoming an Antler Ambassador. Students
must be willing to make up any work missed in the classroom,
as well as missing an occasional recess to do their job.
Each Antler Ambassador will perform one major service
for their school:
-
Some will
serve as Peer Mediators on the playground at noon
recess.
-
Some will
serve as Safety Patrol before school, at lunch,
and/or after school.
-
Some will
serve as Tutors for the Learn and Serve Program,
tutoring senior citizens in computer skills.
-
Some will
serve as Library Leaders
Each Antler
Ambassador, will provide these services on an occasional
basis:
-
Putting
up and taking down the flags each day
-
Operating the
school post office
-
Running
messages for the office
-
Making
presentations at Antler Alert
-
Making
morning announcements over the intercom
-
Returning
lunch bags to classrooms
-
Turning off
the computers in the computer lab.
Ambassadors
will be expected to do their best academically in the
classroom. Since these Ambassadors will be representing our
school, it is understood they will model appropriate
behavior, both on and off the job.
If
you have any questions about Antler Ambassadors, please
contact Kristi Kringlen, DCES counselor, at 348-9100 x 512.
We hope to have a great year serving as leaders our school.
